Don’t they look amazing! It was a great night and well worth going to. The students had a fun, exciting night!

Colder weather

Now we are into o­ne of the colder terms, we encourage the students to get the school jacket or the polar fleece. It helps if they can get polypropylene tops or wear something warm underneath. Remind them to dress warm in the home as well. Talk to them about heater use, both the dangers and amount of time they have it o­n.

Where are your students?

Please make sure that they tell you where they are going, if they say a friend’s house, that’s not enough. Get the address and phone number, and even check that its okay with the other homestay. Also make sure you are taking a turn at having them over. The Asian students seem happy to be at each other’s homes during the winter season. Also they need to let you know early if they need a meal that night.

Common Room

The students love spending time here, but there are just a few things we need to keep an eye o­n. All the cups have gone from there and we now are asking students to have their own cup that they can put in their lockers and then they have to be responsible for it, washing it and putting it back away in their lockers. Also please give them plastic spoons and forks rather than your lovely crockery that may go missing and tell them to please wash it at school and put in their locker. Lunch boxes and containers is another o­ne that goes missing. We remind them daily to take them back home. Please tell them it is important to bring them back home again.

New Students

We are happy to welcome 11 new students to Aranui High School this term. Panther Tongsiripaisan (Thailand), Sang Ryun Lee (Korea), Larissa Souza (Brazil), Olivier Benz (Switzerland), Sarah Schubinski, Selina Schatzlein, Leon Burg, Lars Winter, Henrick Stahmer, Kerstin Sommer, & Emese Bojto (Germany). Great to have you all here and we look forward to getting to know you all.

Powhiri – we are having a welcome for these students Period 5 Monday 21 July 08.

Ski Trip

We are encouraging all our International students to go to this as it is a good deal.

Friday 29 August 08. Leave school 7.05am, return 7pm.

Only $68 for transport, ski gear hire and ski lifts – that’s a great price!

Students may have to hire their own jackets and waterproof pants. Get form from me and be quick as places will go quickly for this.
